A Journey to Us: Choosing Our Wedding Colors and Finding Forever

When I first started wedding planning, the question everyone asked was, “What’s your wedding theme?” I’ll be honest—I was completely baffled. I’d never been to a wedding before, let alone done any research. My mind raced with possibilities—was I supposed to go all out with fairytale-like themes, like Cinderella, or something whimsical like butterflies? Was it as elaborate as a quinceañera theme?

Thankfully, I soon realized that it didn’t have to be that complicated. Wedding “theme” is more about the colors and the overall vibe you want to create for yourself and your guests. Even with that clarity, I was still a bit lost on where to begin. So, like many brides, I turned to Pinterest. I typed in “wedding themes” and started scrolling through endless photos for inspiration. Gradually, I found myself drawn to a soft color palette of pinks, greens, blues, and neutrals. I created a Pinterest board and spent hours talking things over with my husband-to-be. Our conversations were filled with enthusiastic “Oooo, I like this one!” and less excited “Ehhh, maybe not this.”

In the end, I decided to draw inspiration from the keychain I gave my bridesmaids when I asked them to join the wedding party. It was a champagne, sandy hue—warm, inviting, elegant, and perfect for our vision. With that, everything fell into place. Our colors created an elegant and welcoming atmosphere for us and our guests.

Our Love Story

Our journey began with a touch of fate. It was a simple moment—just after a parade, he offered me a ride back to my car. We didn’t introduce ourselves; I simply said thank you and moved on. At that time, we didn’t realize we had been dancing together in the same danza group that year. We were destined to cross paths again, but our story wasn’t ready to unfold just yet.

That all changed in April 2019 when he sent me a simple “Hey 🙂” message. Intrigued and a bit confused, I stalked his profile, not recognizing his name. To my surprise, I discovered we had danced together in the past. That message was the spark that ignited our friendship.

From there, we embarked on countless adventures together—visiting Worlds of Fun, attending concerts, and dancing until the early hours. My sister often tagged along, making our trio a common sight. Everyone around us saw a connection long before we did, but I was determined to keep my focus. I was living my last teenage year on my terms and wasn’t letting any romantic relationships get in the way. Even so, his cousins playfully called me “Mrs. Garcia” whenever they saw me at work.

The teasing didn’t change our status—at least not right away. We were just friends… until Christmas Day. He invited me out for ice cream and a lesson in driving his car. As we switched seats under the cold, starry sky, he leaned in and kissed me. Time seemed to stand still, and in that moment, I knew everything had changed. From that day forward, we’ve been inseparable, building a life full of love and shared memories.

He asked me to marry him on February 25, 2023, and I said “yes.” On September 7, 2024, we’ll say “I do.” This is the beginning of our forever.
